gwyd Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 I bid this the day before the stay (after hearing from friends about how spectacular the waterfalls are at Yosemite). This was the first bid (both Mariposa and Oakhurst areas). Comfort Inn was showing $90 for that night. Shilo Inn actually had a $75 corporate rate for the night, but even counting all the fees, priceline still saved me ~$10. Also, when I checked into the hotel at ~8:30 pm, it was sold out. The hotel had very spacious rooms, and was clean. It also had a decent (included) continental breakfast. However, it is a 70-80 min drive from Yosemite Valley--okay for a one night stay, especially since there is stuff along the drive to see, but I wouldn't recommend it as a base for a multi-day visit. Of course, the lodging inside Yosemite Valley tend to be booked far in advance during the summer, so there might not be a choice!
thereuare Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your winning bid with the rest of the board and adding this hotel to our lists. Can you please tell us the amount of your bid ($50 or $55 or so?)Thanks! gwyd Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 Thanks for the welcome, thereuare.Oops, I thought I put the bid price in the header! Anyway, I bid $60, which might be a $5-10 overbid (or might not, given how hotels in small towns tend not to discount too much on priceline).
