thereuare Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Let's back-up a moment as i think you can certainly improve upon your bidding...To begin, in your first post you mention that you're looking for a 3* hotel, but it appears when bidding you started at 3.5*... what is your desired star rating for this stay? You also mention that you're only interested in the Quincy Market, Fenway Park and Coley zones... but then at the end of your bidding above you also included the Cambridge zone in your bidding. Is this a zone you want to include in your bidding from the onset?Lastly, are you familiar with re-bidding? If not, see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask any questions you have and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board (based upon the star level you decide to bid)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. trevman78 Posted July 18, 2011 Author Report Posted July 18, 2011 Ok, so saying I was new to Priceline may have been an understatement.Anywho. I'd like to figure out a way for a 3* star minimum in Quincy Market, Fenway Park and Copley. I'm not that familiar with re-bidding obviously. I had a look at the re-bidding post and get the picture a bit. If you could suggest a stepping off point I'd greatly appreciate it and of course I'd use the links provided.
thereuare Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 No problem... we'll break it all down for you and we can go as fast, or as slow, as you'd like :)Most important first is to understand re-bidding.Using the following method, list each zone within Boston and the highest star rating available in each, and post your findings so we can confirm your re-bid zones:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is as follows:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter {your city} and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone in the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above. If your confused by the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. trevman78 Posted July 23, 2011 Author Report Posted July 23, 2011 Sorry for the delay. Here's the info as per above.Boston Harbor front - Aquarium 4*Boston Waterfront - Convention Ctr. 4*Brighton - Brookline 3*Cambridge 4 *Copley Sq. - Theatre District 4*Fenway Park 1*Medford - Somerville 3*North Cambridge - Arlington 2.5 *Quincy Market -Faneuil Hall- Financial 4*Revere - Logan Airport 4*South Boston 3*
thereuare Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 So, if you were to bid a 3* minimum and include the following zones in your bid:Quincy MarketCopley Sq.North Cambridge - ArlingtonFenway... do you see how if you were success the hotel would have to be in either Quincy Market or Copley Square (since the other two zones don't have any 3* or higher rated hotels)Does it make more sense now and/or is clearer?Let us know, if we're all set on re-bidding we'll then move onto a suggested strategy... to re-cap, you're still looking for a 3* or better in the Quincy Market or Copely zone with a maximum bid of $120... is this correct? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. trevman78 Posted July 24, 2011 Author Report Posted July 24, 2011 Yes, this makes sense to me now. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 So to recap, you're looking for a 3* or better hotel in the Quincy Market or Copley zones with a maximum bid of $120? If this is correct, i think your budget is going to be a little short, but to get started and give it a try:At the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones (covered above but always double check just before bidding to make sure nothing has changed).Select 3* Quincy Market...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Quincy Market and Copley...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
