bedderbidder Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Feeling like I walked away with a pretty decent deal here. Thanks so much for the information on this board and the strategies! I took special care to use the PRICELINE link that you provided to make this reservation, enjoy the following data:I bid $65 on a 3.5*+ in the following areas:- Greater Chicago- Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area- Lincoln ParkAnd ended up with the 4* Hyatt Regency for two nights, a Friday and Saturday. Previously I bid $57 on Greater Chicago + Lincoln Park. Earlier that day I had bid (with all 3-star minimum):Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area $30Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area, Lincoln Park $33Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area, Lincoln Park, Midway Airport North $40North Michigan Ave - River North Area $31North Michigan Ave - River North Area, Franklin Park Area $373.5-star minimum:North Michigan Ave - River North Area, Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area, Midway Airport North $634-star minimum:Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area, Midway Airport North $63North Michigan Ave - River North Area, Midway Airport North, Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area $63All of the above failed, obviously. I know this is the hotel attached to the convention center, but I'm concerned about parking which can be pricey -- if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. - bbIn my haste to rebid, I realized that I accidentally clicked "yes" to the option to buy the $5/room/night travel insurance. Which technically makes the price $70, but I'm not too concerned about it, especially since that hotel's going for $199/night on other sites. This makes me wonder, however, if clicking that "yes" has an impact on the bid itself.Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $65.00 (USD)Travel Insurance: $10.00 (USD)Room Subtotal: $140.00 (USD)Taxes and Fees: $28.24 (USD)Total Room Cost: $168.24 (USD)
