Bid over a number of days, systematically increasing by bids. Here was my bidding process:

On 6/18/11:

1st bid: 2.5* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $35

2nd bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington, Pottstown (Pottstown's highest hotel level is 2.5*, so added it for an extra bid) $40

On 6/20/11:

3rd bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $44

4th bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington, Pottstown $46

5th bid: 2.5* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $48

On 6/21/11:

6th bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $50

7th bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington, Pottstown $53

8th bid: 2.5* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $55 - got a bid again right now if you increase your price to $70, which I ignored...

9th (& winning) bid: 6/23/11-6/25/11 3* Horsham-Fort Washington $60, then extended my stay for 6/25/11-6/27/11 for $83

I wanted a hotel from 6/23/11-6/27/11, but after my 8th bid I decided to take a gamble and change my dates to get extra bids (thinking I could get a hotel for cheaper than $70). Bidding for 6/23/11-6/25/11 I got my first two nights (Thurs & Fri) at the Courtyard By Mariott for $60/night, and then I tried to extend my stay 2 additional nights through 6/27/11. While Priceline did let me extend my stay, I was only able to do so if I was willing to increase my price to $83/night for the additional two nights (Sat & Sun). I'm actually lucky that I was even able to extend my stay; there were a number of wedding parties, and I think the hotel was completely booked for the weekend. In retrospect it would have been $6 cheaper/room if I'd increased my bid to $70 for all 4 nights, and I wouldn't have had the hassle of checking out and checking back in mid-stay.

The hotel rooms were nice and clean, and the staff honored our room type requests (again, lucky, as the hotel was quite full). I was surprised that being a 3* hotel, our rooms didn't come with a mircrowave or refrigerator. The parking lot isn't much to look at, and we had a view of the Home Depot across the street. The breakfast buffet is a bit pricey (I think it was $10.95 for the full buffet) but you can also buy items a-la-carte. There were a lot of loud, disruptive guests during our stay; I wish the hotel had been more proactive about keeping noise levels in check, rather than me having to call the front desk in the middle of the night.

Original Reservation: 2 rooms, 6/23/11-6/25/11, $60/room/night, Subtotal: $240, Taxes & Fees: $31.76, Total Charges: $271.76

Additional Nights Reservation: 2 rooms, 6/25/11-6/27/11, $83/room/night, Subtotal: $332, Taxes & Fees: $41.40, Total Charges: $373.40

Congrats on your success. :)

Very nice rate for this Courtyard property during a busy period, although sorry to hear that the stay was mixed.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could post a separate thread for the 25th-27th purchase. Thanks. :)
