spongiebob2010 Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Hey guys:i'm trying to get a priceline winning bid in venice for october 29-31 an having difficulties. i understand this is high season? for italy. these are my bids so fari've bidded up to $110 for a 3* hotel in venice and up to $160 on a 4* hotel, all have been rejected :)one time i got a counteroffer for $195 for a 4* but i really didn't want to spend more than $170 a night so i refused it. i'm ok with 3* or 4* since we going to be out of the room most of the day as we only have one and a half day to enjoy venice. any tips?thanks everyone in advance :)
Romelle Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 You might consider Mestre. It is just a very quick and inexpensive train ride from Venice, and quite a bit less expensive. You can bid on it also. Also, there is a link under the Support/Travel tab up above to Holiday Inn. There is one HI in Mestre and another in "Venice East - Quarto D'Italino". The Mestre one was a regular PRICELINE win the last few years. The Venice East - Q one (actually a lovely Crowne Plaza) is about one minute from a train station with a line that takes you into Venice in about a half hour. There isn't any PL bidding on Venice East - Q, but you can book the Holiday Inn directly. If you happen to be flying in or out of Marco Polo, the Crowne Plaza is very convenient for that. Romelle
thereuare Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 one time i got a counteroffer for $195 for a 4* but i really didn't want to spend more than $170 a night so i refused it.Since the 'right' number is somewhere between the amount of your bid when you received this counter offer, and $195, why not try bidding up to your $170 limit... it might just be enough, and you can get a 4* hotel. Given $160 has been rejected fro a 3*, i would at least try $170 for a 4* before bidding 3* again.Let us know your thoughts and/or how it goes. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. spongiebob2010 Posted July 17, 2011 Author Report Posted July 17, 2011 hey all:VENICE hotel>>yesterday i bidded up to 170 for a 4* and got rejected, then i added 3* and bidded 125 and got rejected as well.then i booked the Universo & Nord Hotel at otel.com for $297 for 2 nights including taxes and fees using a facebook 10% off coupon (original price $315 for 2 nights). That was the cheapest price available for that hotel anywhere and i liked the location of the hotel near the bus station since we have a real early flight out. Also for ROME>my 4* central rome bids were rejected up to $165 so i went and booked the Residenza Antica Roma at easyclicktravel for $167 including taxes. I've never used neither otel.com or easyclicktravel but i hope for the best lol.I guess Rome and Venice arent' good priceline cities, but i still love priceline and use it a lot for everything else.Thank you everyone and have a great day!!!!!!
