kfr Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 I had been trying for a few days in the downtown and airport areas. When I expanded to university - metrodome I got the Ramada Plaza (seems to be in a boring industrial area near I-35E and a cemetery). The $50 + tax price was right, as the list price on the Ramada web site was $149.

kfr Posted July 24, 2011 Author Report Posted July 24, 2011 Just got back after my stay at the Ramada Plaza. I can report that the hotel was very nice, but be forewarned that there isn't much nearby (a Holiday gas station and a Wendy's is about it). It is in an area so industrial and business-oriented that the streets don't even have sidewalks (seemed to be a perfectly safe area, however). I was without a car, but because it was a lovely summer day, I walked 3/4 of a mile to Hennepin Avenue and got the bus into downtown. The hotel bar/restaurant was dark and the menu was nothing special, but the woman who was keeping bar was really nice and the hamburger and beer I got were good. The room was nicely appointed for a hotel at this star level, the bathroom was small but clean.
AaronJB Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Glad to hear that the stay turned out okay! Thank you for the follow-up. :)
