cjszybinski Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 I am new to this forum, thank you for the opportunity to explore travel discounts and benefits. My question relates to the 4.5* for $152 currently lsited on Hotwire in the Quincy Mkt/Financial area... The icon for SPA is listed, which suggests to me that the property is either the Intercontinental or the Langham. I have seen other posts which also indicate this to be likely, though I am not sure the best way to differentiate between the 2...Additionally, I have stayed at the Omni Parker and the Ames on previous trips.. I am hoping to stay at either of these properties, OR the 9-ZERO or the Onyx (all 4* on hotwire I believe, and presently more $$ than 4.5*). Any suggestion on how I may enhance my chances of aquiring one of these properties (9/2 - 9/6) on either HOTWIRE OR PRICELINE? I am begining to think that Priceline offers the best means of aquiring one of the 4 properties I mentioned. Any thoughts?Thank you in advance.
cjszybinski Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 *NOTE* If I change my bed request to 3 adults, I am offered a 4.5* w/ SUPER SAVINGS for $155. Does this suggest the Intercontinental rather than the Langham?
Romelle Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 As long as you are OK with staying in any property within the Priceline map at a particular star level, Priceline tends to be less expensive than Hotwire. Hotwire has the advantage of letting one select by amenity, and also makes it possible to fairly effectively guess the property ahead of time. Hotwire tends to be a little more generous with the star ratings, roughly a half star. So a 4 1/2* on Hotwire may well be a 4* on Priceline. Some people are OK with the randomness of Priceline whereas others like a little more control of the situation so prefer Hotwire. I will say that the only time I used Hotwire, my analysis of what I thought I'd get was wrong. On the other hand, I've always been at least OK with Priceline property and sometimes clear on to delighted. RomellePS - have you found the list of reported winning Priceline bids? The second post in this Priceline - Massachusetts area (the first is winning Hotwire bids).
cjszybinski Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 I should have done more research with respect to Priceline...At any rate, I received 4 nights (9/2-9/6) at the Hyatt Regency (Quincy Mkt/Financial) with a bid of $125 per night. Not the property I preferred by certainly appears to be a value for the time of year.
AaronJB Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Excellent deal for the Hyatt, especially for this time periodThank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
