tgroovy Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 Looking to book a hotel on hotwire for the dates 9/15 to 9/19. I see a 3.5 and 4 star hotel for $156 in the Magnificent Mile area. Amenities are boutique, non smoking, fitness, restaurant, business center and internet access. The 3.5 star also says 90% approval rating on hotwire reviews. After reviewing your list it appears the 3.5 star is the Hotel 71 and the 4 star Hotel Sax. In reading reviews, I'm leaning towards Hotel 71.Is my assumption correct on the hotel? Would Hotel 71 be preferable to the Hotel Sax?Thanks
thereuare Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!I agree with your guess of the 3.5* being the Hotel 71. However, the 4* matches both the Hotel Sax and the Hotel Felix, so either of these would be my best guess for the 4* property.I'm not sure which is preferred, although the reviews for the Hotel 71 do look fantastic.. i'm sure AaronJB will comment once he sees this thread in regards to which might be the better choice. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 71 has had some issues in prior years (a condo conversion that never went anywhere and other issues - http://www.chicagorealestatedaily.com/arti...he-block-again) and reviews were not very good. The property has appeared to have turned things around in the last year or two and reviews have improved. It does certainly boast a nice location, right by the Michigan Ave. bridge.Sax is another very nice property that was named to Conde Nast's hot List a couple of years ago. It was previously the House of Blues Hotel and is still next to the HOB. The property was taken over not long ago by the famed Thompson Hotels Group, known for their hip properties in NYC/LA and elsewhere. The Felix is a newer boutique - it was a redo of an existing budget property turned into a higher end boutique, and the rooms are on the small side. Nice location sort of in-between the River North area and the NMA area. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
