Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC bidding strategy question

We will be going to New York for the Labor Day holiday. I have tried a few bid runs, but have not been successful yet. The last one I believe I was up to $165 a night. We do not care what area we are in. . .the question we have been pondering is whether or not we might be more successful if we split up our stay - such as 3 nights at one hotel and 3 nights at another. Is that a better strategy than 6 continuous nights?

Thoughts?

September in NYC is generally a busier/more expensive period in the city, with nicer temps and some convention traffic.

What bids have you made so far in terms of price/zone/star rating? Additionally, what would be your desired budget per night?

Thus far i have tried bidding up to 170/night including all zones exceptd for the upper west side (might be a little far from the family we are planning to visit)

Ideally we are hoping to spend less than 200/night...
