Hi Guys, cool site, 1st time user.

I want a great deal but all the negative reviews I've been reading really have me worried to use a site like Hotwire. Found you guys and hoping you can help me make a decision. I'm looking for a deal on a 5 star hotel on the Las Vegas strip. As far as I can tell, their are only four 5 star hotels on the North side of the strip: Wynn, Encore, Venetian and Palazzo. I'd be more than happy to stay at any of these places for $112/night. The way I see it, it has to be one of these 4 places or the website is not truthful. I was going to book based on this logic, but then I started reading reviews of people saying that you don't get what they advertise, no refunds, you can't talk to a human if you have problems, etc. etc.

Here are the details:

Sept 14 - 19, 2011 (5 nights)

$111.78/per night/per room

Spa Services - Guests have access to a spa facility or spa services; an extra charge typically applies.

Resort - Resorts offer a complete destination experience. Facilities generally include a spa or fitness center, one or more swimming pools, and superior dining options. Depending on location, recreational activities may include water sports, golf, tennis or skiing. Coastal resorts usually boast ocean views or beachfront access. Note: A resort fee may be charged.

Smoke Free Rooms - Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free.

Fitness Center - Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.

Pool(s) - Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal.

Restaurant(s) - Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.

High-Speed Internet Access - Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.

Kitchenette - Accommodations include a stovetop or microwave oven, a sink and a mini-refrigerator.

Which one do you think it is? Is it possible that they consider 4 star hotels in this category? Is it possible the hotels is "near the strip" as opposed to on the strip?

Thanks for your help,

Phishstick

Not a mod, but make sure you click the links up top when searching and buying.

If it doesn't have the casino icon, 5* in the Strip North Zone, it's most likely the Trump Tower. As always, that's a best guess, and star ratings change, but without the casino icon, it's probably the Trump.

Also, check the top of the Hotwire and Priceline pages here for the most up to date listings of hotels by zone. If you buy, make sure you post your wins . . . and your losses if you don't get something, that way we all win.

Thanks petrel800. I'm starting to see how this works. I bet it is the Trump and I bet it's only a regular room, not a suite, I was hoping it was a suite :) That's also pretty far north for walking, now I'm leaning towards the south. Any ideas on these two?

Sept 14 - 19

5* Las Vegas Strip - South area hotel (0.0 - 1.2 mi from city center) $117/night

Smoke Free, Fiteess Center, Pool, Restaurant, Spa Services

and

Sept 14 - 19

4.5* Las Vegas Strip - South area hotel (0.0 - 1.2 mi from city center) $132/night

Resort, Suite, Smoke Free Rooms, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Kitchenette, Spa Services

Thanks in advance. And if I buy from one of these sites (which I probably will), I'll definitely post the results!

Without the Casino Icons on those two I would guess the first is Vdara and the second might be the Signiture at MGM Grand. Those would be my best guesses, as always, stars and icons change, but I'm pretty sure on the Vdara call, MGM Sig, not so sure.

I keep looking at the Vegas stuff because I'll be there Sept 9th-13th and I'm just curious if a deal might pop that would get me interested to move away from my back up.

FYI, if that is the MGM Grand Signiture, you might want to look at booking directly with them. They're currently running a 4 nights for the price of 3 sale. I'm booked for the above dates and I'm at $150/night out the door (that includes taxes and resort fees). The promo is on the mgm signiture website, or if you type SIG443 into the promo code window it should take you to that booking page. Not sure how long the promo runs.
