twerpela Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 I'm looking for a resort 9/22-10/3/2011. I am getting very discouraged: I've been bidding on a resort in all regions of Maui up to $162 without any success. I know people are getting bids accepted from $143+ and I've tried starting with one region, then adding another while increasing my bid, etc. I orginally started at $129. I've even tried split bidding without success and adding 4* Any suggestions? HELP! :)
AaronJB Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Sorry to hear that your bids haven't yet been accepted. :)What would be your desired max budget per night, and how have you bid so far (which zones have you bid on and how did you try splitting your bids in terms of dates?)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
twerpela Posted July 13, 2011 Author Report Posted July 13, 2011 I've starting bidding at $129 in the Wailea area, then added Kanaapali @ $143, then Kihei @ $163 and then changed the rate to include resorts and 4*. I've been following other posts and see others have gotten a resort for around those bids. My friend got the Wailiea Marriott last year for $125. I'd like to stay at $160 max. I've also tried splitting the bid to around similiar rates give or take a few dollars to start and kept the dates seperate 9/22-9/29 and 9/29-10/3. What to do, what to do? Should I wait until my dates get closer?
thereuare Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 At the moment rates are high for these dates... but it's possible that another $10 or so will be the difference between success and failure. If you're willing to increase your budget a bit, HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Kaanapali zone for $182, which i'm guessing is either the Sheraton or the Westin, should this be of any interest. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. twerpela Posted July 14, 2011 Author Report Posted July 14, 2011 If you purchase thru Hotwire, do you still pay the extra resort fees per day?
