I'm trying to get the RWPK for the second week of July, I've been up to $65 with no luck. What is the other safe rebid zone. What max do you think is reasonable? PL packages suggest I have some room to play with vs the Park.

Also this is a sat to sat stay, if I decide to break it up which way do you suggest breaking it up?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

It is important for you to know how to check your re-bid zones yourself as they are subject to change. We can tell you "XYZ is your re-bid zone" and by the time you actually place your bid that information could change and you could end up in a zone that you do not want.

Re-bidding is explained here: PRICELINE RE-BIDDING EXPLAINED. Please read it and ask any questions you may have. If you're still unsure, list all the zones in the Honolulu area and the highest star rating offered in each and we'll explain it further.

Once you understand re-bidding we'll take a closer look at your dates and a specific strategy.

ok, thanks. I understand the re bidding now. In my case Ihana and the airport are free rebid zones since there are no 3* or above hotels available. An aside question, do all cities make you select at least 2 zones or just select cities? I had to select to zones for HNL before it would show me the ratings available.

The dates I desire are 7/9-7/16.

Ihilani is not a re-bid zone... although there are no 3* hotels in that zone, there is a Resort. When you bid for 3* that is the minimum that you are willing to accept, so Priceline always has the option of upgrading you to a higher quality hotel. Not some may say "at the price i'm bidding i don't mind getting a resort hotel in the Ihilani zone", but i wouldn't only include that zone if that you are willing to end up there.

Rates are consistent throughout your stay so i don't think that splitting your bid is necessary at this point; however, rates are a bit higher than usual.

Keep in mind that using the Vacation Packages as an guage of the hotel you will receive is not foolproof, but that is the chance you take in exachange for a deeply discounted rate. If you want to give it a try i would bid $58 and if that is rejected report back and we'll try to do a bit more mathematical computations in order to figure out an appropriate re-bid amount... don't want to go too high as then the Park Shore becomes a greater and greater possibility.

Well the differenc thru the packages product amounts to about $15/nite, so perhaps you can slowly increase your bid and hope to get the Radisson before the Park Shore. However, if your vacation would be ruined if you received the Park Shore i would recommend you don't use the opaque services for as you increase your price the chances of receiving something other than the Radisson increase as well (remember, looking at the packages is not foolproof).

Keep us updated.

Thanks for all the help. I decided not to push it any further. I found a lesser hotel for $55 and with surprisingly good reviews. I think I'd rather have it than the Park for the same price. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. If I see others get lucky with RWKP, I may reconsider or see the Park sold out.
