texasgirl3 Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 Used PRICELINE link, started at $55, added Conroe and got at $60.WARNING: While the hotel confirmed at check in that we had pre-paid thru PL, they subsequently charged the card I used for "incidentals" for the room rate I had already paid PL ( on a different card). I suspect they do this and just hope you don't notice. Hyatt accounting/customer service was not the most helpful, saying it didn't show in their record and would have to look into it and confirm they have paid by PL, until I firmly reminded them the clerk at check-in had that info so why didn't the CS office!! Then they didn't want to pay the overdraft fee (kept repeating that my bank would waive when they saw it was a mistake), until after I insisted several times that it was their mistake and therefor their responsibility, not the bank's. As far as our stay, the hotel is nice, clean, with modern furnishings and decor, quality sheets, big and plentiful pillows, expensive-looking marble floors and counters in bathroom, flat-screen TV. They asked me at check-in if I wanted high or low floor (high floors have nice views) and had no problem with getting 2 beds (but they are doubles, not queens!). Pretty 29-story atrium. Rotating restaurant on top was not open when we were there (its closed Sun-Mon). Parking is $25/night for valet, but we had no trouble finding street parking right by the hotel, free both days (Sun, and Mon holiday). Highly recommend nearby & newly remodeled Mai's Restaurant for great and inexpensive Vietnamese food, open Mon-Sat until 4am.
thereuare Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Sorry to hear about the double billing, but this is usually just an honest mistake which is typically rectified with the first phone call to the hotel. While it's unfortunate that this may not have been handled properly, i doubt that it's intentional by the hotel who would get in trouble with their merchant account if they have too many charge backs. It's usually the result of a clerk (of new) who is not used to the proper check-in procedure for prepaid reservations.Glad you got it sorted, and that you otherwise enjoyed your stay.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.
