new27 Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Hi,I am new to PRICELINE bidding and used this forum to check for some winning bids.I used the PRICELINE link from this forum and bid for 9/17-9/20 4* waikiki Beach AreaI started my bid at $86....... Bid was rejectedmy second bid was at $95(added another area)....bid was rejected Third bid was at 110 +$10 bonus cash = $120 and waikiki marina, city center,HNL airport, exec center areas were all added by now.Unfortunately this bid was also rejected.I feel i am getting close enough to my max amt $120 /nightMy dates are fixed and i would not want to step down on the star level. What should be my strategy now that i have exhausted all the areas ?I would prefer to stay in the Waikiki beach area, but do not mind marina, city center area if the deal is good.I have seen some successful bids in the same price range & around the same time period.Probably some fellow bidders can help me out here.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I do think you can be successful for a 4* hotel in in the Marina and/or City Center zone(s) at less than $120, but what do you want to try first:-bid up to $130 for a 4* in your preferred Waikiki Beach zone?-try for a lower price in the Marina and City Center zones? Also note that HOTWIRE has what i'm guessing to be the Waikiki Parc for $133/nite, should this be of any interest to you (this property has never been reported to the board via PRICELINE so may not participate with their name your own price service)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. new27 Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 Thanks for the reply thereuare.Well over the weekend i rebid for a 4* in the Waikiki Beach Area for $130 and was unsuccessful.I also tried to rebid for marina Zone for $90 which was also not accepted.I instead opted for the Hotwire deal 4* Marina zone for $97. I got Hawaii Prince hotel. I shall update the same on hotwire forum. Also this hotel is undergoing some renovations which are expected to finish by Aug 2011. I hope we get the newly renovated rooms.I am overall very happy with my hotel and was able to do it well within my allocated budget.Thank you again. This is a great forum. I hope more people keep updating their winning/loosing bids.
new27 Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 After some unsuccessful bids on priceline I opted for the Hotwire deal.I got Hawaii Prince Hotel for 4* Waikiki Marina Zone for $97. I am quite happy with the hotel option provided. After reading some reviews it shows that almost all rooms in this hotel have marina view.I thing to note is that the hotel is undergoing some renovations which are expected to finish by Aug 2011. Thanksnew27
