tacheson Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 new here and tried to read all the preliminaries but my brain turned to mushthinkin that I'll start @ $205 for a 4* in times square on priceline (will go through link here)does this seem reasonable?found a deal with another site for the Sanctuary Hotel for $199 - but I think that is more 3*thanks for opinions and help!great site!
AaronJB Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)I believe the Sanctuary is still under construction and some services may rate it lower due to (it appears) unfinished amenities (restaurant, etc.) It has not yet been reported on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. It may not be accepted, but you have enough time to start lower than $205 and work higher. Is TS the only acceptable zone? I'd guess you may be able to get a moderately cheaper win in MTE, CPS or other nearby Midtown zones.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
tacheson Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 lol, I know I saw the zones (TS, MTC, etc) somewhere, but can't remember where or what they signifyI'm not opposed to a different zone but something within walking distance of the theater district would be nicethank you!
thereuare Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 If you enter "New York City" and your dates in the PRICELINE search box on the top right of this page you'll see the zones within this region and their boundaries on a map... with TS (Times Square) and MTW (Midtown West) you're assured of being close enough to the theatre to walk, but this also limits you to a deal in only these zones, whereas a similarly rated hotel may be available for less in one of the other nearby zones... typically MTW, TS, MTE, CPS and ESB all work well for the average user, but these last 3 zones may/may not get you close enough to the theater to walk (depending upon where in the zone you actually end up).We hear "walk to the theatre" a lot, but i usually recommend seeking the best deal in midtown and then, if too far to walk, take a cab to the hotel after the theatre... you'll likely only head to the theatre once/twice on a 2 nite stay, so pick something that is convenient to all your activities, and not limit yourself to a location only close to the theatre. However, ultimately it's your stay and your trip, and your budget, so it's up to you if you prefer to potentially pay a little more to only stay within walking distance of the theatre.Take a look at the zones and let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
