andeesings Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 I'll be in LA from August 29th-September 2nd, and I'm looking for a 5* hotel. I don't really know the Los Angeles area well, but I'm sure any area that HAS a 5* hotel won't be dodgy (though one never knows). I was looking at the hotels that are offered, and it appears the only hotel that successfully lets you bid is the L'ermitage. On priceline, with the one night free option, I can get it WITHOUT bidding for an average of $212 a night. What are the chances I'd be able to bid for a 5* hotel lower than that??? Have there ever been OTHER 5* hotels that accepted bids? Thanks!!!

thereuare Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 What are the chances I'd be able to bid for a 5* hotel lower than that???The L Ermitage is the only 5* hotel that has been reported to the board in this zone... but there could always be others not yet reported to the board, newly added to the system, or recently upgraded from a previous star rating. While the L Ermitage seems like a likely possibility, given the uncertainty of exactly which 5* hotel you might receive, how high would you be willing to bid vs. the $212/nite average of a non-opaque purchase? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. andeesings Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 To be honest I'm not sure... I'd be really upset if I bid OVER $212 and just overpaid for the L'ermitage. I'd look at HOTWIRE as well, if there wasn't a huge difference between 4.5 and 5 star hotels...
thereuare Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 I'd be really upset if I bid OVER $212...You wouldn't bid more than $212 knowing that you could book direct for less... your maximum bid would be some number less than $212 to account for the 'unknown' factor of the hotel you may receive. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. andeesings Posted July 12, 2011 Author Report Posted July 12, 2011 I think my maximum bid would be $190- the less the better, obviously, but I'd pay up to $190!
thereuare Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 When bidding 5* in this region you have NINE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $183, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $188, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
