Heading to Boston for a conference but leaving early to catch a few games and need hotel preferrably in Quincy or Back Bay so I can get to Fenway easily as well as moving to the Four Seasons for the conference on the 21st. Several unsuccessful bids for 3.5 or 4 star in these areas up to $167 per night. Checked the conferences in the area and there doesn't seem to be too much going on. On regular retail nights I noticed that Sep 20th was often a lot more expensive that the 18th and 19th. I wonder why? Could be why I am having trouble compared to the bids I have seen won out there in the same range. Any advice, not worried too much about which hotel I get in the 3.5 or 4 star hotel.

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

For a city its size, Boston actually has a shortage of hotel rooms, and even moderate sized events can have a dramatic effect on hotel prices. I did see two conferences in town during these dates, which collectively amount to about 4500 people, which in addition to any other events (ie- baseball, smaller hotel conferences, etc) can have an effect on hotel rates.

I do see a 3* hotel in the Back Bay zone for your dates for $162/nite, but not sure if you are interested in lowering your star rating yet at this point in time. What is the best deal you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? I guess the company won't foot the bill for your to stay at the Four Seasons the days before the conference :) ?

I still have some time so I may put in a few more offers at a higher price and see, but if I can't, I may look to a 3*, what hotels would be typical at the 3 star in these areas? Thanks for the help, this is a great site.

You can see all hotels reported to the board in each zone in the Priceline Hotel List.

While we often 'warn' against trying to determine which hotel you will get with PRICELINE (as there is no way to target a specific hotel, and wanting/expecting a specific hotel in the zone vs. others can often lead to disappointment), if you want to get a feel for what has been received most recently, you can enter 'Boston Back Bay' in the QUICK SEARCH box in the blue banner at the top of the board and see all related wins for this zone, scanning thru the list to see which 3* properties appear more then others; you can the repeat for 'Boston Quincy Market'.

If you'd like help with a bidding strategy to bid higher let us know your maximum bid at each star level and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, let us know if you're willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR if your goal at this point would be the least expensive 3.5* or better up to your limit.

Any idea which hotel matches Hotwire's $162, 3* in Copley that you indicated? I may go for that in the end as location is as important as long as the 3* has good reviews? Thanks

Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Centre, Business Centre, Laundry Self Service, Hi Speed Internet and it says that they are still gathering reviews.

Thanks

How about a 3* in Quincey, N/S rooms, fitness center, restaurant, hi speed internet 80% recommended? any idea what that might be, looks like this was just added recently to Hotwire.

Thanks

In another post, it was mentioned that the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge might be attainable in September for $175/night. Did you mean through Priceline? I don't see any wins for that so am wondering how to go about that if we can't get Quincy or Back Bay?

Thanks

Ended up booking thru Expedia the Colonnade Hotel for $257/night. (They had a 48 hour sale). I bid 3.5 and 4 up to $200 with no luck so if I am going to pay more than that, I wanted to know where I am staying and be able to cancel and this location was perfect. Thanks for the help, will definitely use this site again in the future.
