thereuare Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Assuming you're looking to use PRICELINE, MTC is not the name of a zone they use... please look at their map and let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept, as well as your budget per nite before fees and taxes. We'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! 1967hailhail Posted July 10, 2011 Author Report Posted July 10, 2011 Hi sorry it was mtw but i would be looking for areas mtw mte cps for between $100-$150 per night
AaronJB Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 What would be your desired star rating?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
1967hailhail Posted July 10, 2011 Author Report Posted July 10, 2011 Hello 3*-4* stayed in club qaurters 47th street last year and was nice anything around that sort of standard would be great
thereuare Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Sorry, questions before we're able to advise further...Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? Also, note that at 3.5* and under in the CPS zone the Hudson Hotel comes into play as a possibility and while the hotel otherwise gets decent reviews, the rooms are notoriously small (even by NYC standards) and may not be the most comfortable place for a week long stay... would this be acceptable?Likewise, at 3.5* and below in the MTE zone, some hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. 1967hailhail Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 Hello thanks for your reply better to get it right Probably 3.5* 0r 4* but if they are to expensive 3* not sure about the hudson hotel but realise that theres a chance i might win this hotel.15 min walk would be ok for mte but would prefer mtc.my budget per night would be around $100-$150
thereuare Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Probably 3.5* 0r 4* but if they are to expensive 3* not sure about the hudson hotel but realise that theres a chance i might win this hotel. So i take it you wan to bid for the least expensive 3.5* or higher first, then if rejected, start over (and lower) at the 3* level... is this correct?15 min walk would be ok for mte but would prefer mtc.Are you willing to pay more to stay in MTC (which is not a PRICELINE zone, but i assume you mean TS or MTW) vs. MTE or is budget more important and you'd like the least expensive at the star rating you're bidding in any of these zones? Please confirm/clarify the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. 1967hailhail Posted July 12, 2011 Author Report Posted July 12, 2011 hi sorry 1st mtw either 3.5* or 4* what ever i can get for $100-$150 per night2nd ts 3.5* 0r 4* what ever i can get for $100-$150 per night3rd cps 4* would add 3.5* but would like to dodge the hudson hotel $100-$150 per night 4th mte 3.5* or 4* what ever i can get for $100 - $150 per night5th hells kitchen 3.5* or 4* what ever i can get for $100-$150 per night6th queensborough bridge 3.5* or 4* what ever i can get for $100- $150 per nightThat is the areas im thinking about Are the 3* hotels in theses areas any good if so i will add them to my bidding process
thereuare Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 If the above are your preferences that's fine, but it's a bit unconventional to how most people bid. To clarify you want:1) the least expensive 3.5* or higher in MTW up to $150, if rejected2) the least expensive 3.5* or higher in TS up to $150, if rejected3) the least expensive 4* in CPS up to $150, if rejected4) the least expensive 3.5* in CPS up to $150, if rejected5) the least expensive 3.5* or higher in MTE up to $150, if rejectedetcetcetcSo in other words (and while i don't believe this to be the case it serves the example well)... if there is a 3.5* in the MTW zone for $150 and a 4* avaialble in MTE for $110... you prefer the 3.5* in MTW for more money? In order words, you have more of a zone preference then a star rating and/or price preference? This isn't unheard of, but it's not how most bid (especially in NYC where the zones are geographically small and adjacent to one another)... as most are looking for the least expensive midtown hotel ('midtown' encompassing multiple different zones) at a given star rating.Like i said, if the above is your preference that's fine, and we'll advise as you have indicated, but just wanted to make sure we're on the same page. Please confirm and we'll advise accordingly. 1967hailhail Posted July 12, 2011 Author Report Posted July 12, 2011 Hi thanks for your help seem to be going round in circles here my fault Stayed in mtw last year liked the area was close to everything looking at the priceline map used your link the zones for midtown look close togetherIm looking for least expencive 3.5* or 4* hotel in any zone mtw, ts , cps, mte, hells kitchen, queensborough bridgeHope this helps
thereuare Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 So to summarize, you're looking for the least expensive 3.5* or better hotel in the mtw, ts , cps, mte, hells kitchen, queensborough bridge zones with a maximum bid of $150.If this is correct, note that the highest star rating offered in the Queensboro Brdige zone is 3*, so we won't include that in your bidding, and will just bid on MTW, TS, CPS, MTE and HK.At the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* MTW, CPS, MTE...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE Select 3.5* TS and HK...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE Select 3.5* MTW, CPS, MTE and TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE Select 3.5* MTW, CPS, MTE and HK...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE Select 3.5* MTW, TS, CPS, MTE and HK...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. 1967hailhail Posted July 26, 2011 Author Report Posted July 26, 2011 hello i have being using your PRICELINE template for booking my trip using the zones you suggested and have bid upto $170 so far without any luck do you think im better to try and split my dates ie 4 nights then 3 nights or should i drop down to a 3* hotel
thereuare Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 I actually think you have a chance at a 4* hotel for 8/25-8/30 at $170 (an even better chance if you bid as high as $180)... would you want to try for this first OR try for the least expensive 3.5* or better? Do you want the most number of nites from your first purchase (which makes the second purchase a bit easier) or do you prefer to try split 4nites/3nites? If you want to try for the 4* first, do you want to stick with $170 as your maximum bid or do you want to stretch it to $180 on account of the higher rated property? If you would prefer one hotel i do think you can get something at the 3* level within the bid amounts you have already made.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your purchases. thereuare Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 What is it that you want to try first:1) bid for 8/25-8/30 at a 4* hotel up to $170 in the previously bid zones2) bid for 8/25-8/30 at a 3.5* hotel up to $170 in the previously bid zones3) bid for a 8/23-8/30 at 3* up to $170 in the limited zones you've listed above (but i'm not sure which zone 'ems' refers to)... or did you have some other game plan in mind? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- GO BLUE! 1967hailhail Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 I can book the flatotel for $ 1531 for 7 nights 23rd aug-30thOr stay hotel and the time hotel for about the same price should i cut my losses and book one of these or do you think i could get a better deal using your priceline
thereuare Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 I can book the flatotel for $ 1531 for 7 nights 23rd aug-30thIs that the room rate only or 'all-in' including fees and taxes? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 The rates above are equivalent to ~$185/nite bid.If you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID i think you can get a 4* for this price (or very close) but not sure if this is preferable to one stay at the either of the hotels you've listed above.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
