Kim_cheapertravel Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I've been trying for the past few days now to bid for a 5* North for 07/27 to 07/31 dates, and have been unsuccessful from $105 to $136,I was asked to rebid at $165 at one point, but I feel that is too much by the time I factor in Fees, taxes and resort fees.Any suggestions? Is 5* South typically cheaper than 5* North? What should I expect to pay? I have also not tried Hotwire as I am less familiar with that site than Priceline. Thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages.Rates are date specific, but you could get a 5* hotel in the Strip South zone for your dates for much less than you have already bid... HOTWIRE has 5* hotel in the Strip South for $82/nite for your dates. The amenities show (Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Spa) match previous reports for the Vdara so that would be my best guess for this one. Note that this property does not have a casino, but it is located in the new 'City Center' development so a casino is not far away (the neighboring Aria is probably the closest) Would this work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thougths and/or how it goes or if we can be of further help. Kim_cheapertravel Posted July 9, 2011 Author Report Posted July 9, 2011 Thanks for the info,I just checked Hotwire and 5 star south was coming out at $113 and not $82, any tips on how I can get it lower for 5 star either South or North? Thanks! Appreciate this board and will use the links for bookings.
AaronJB Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 South is (generally) cheaper than North. In terms of North, if you bid $136 and got a counter-offer for $165, the actual acceptable winning bid price is somewhere between those rates. You can use re-bidding in order to work slowly but surely up (by $5's - $136, $141, $146, etc) in an attempt to find the required rate.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 It's $113 for me now too.At this point is your objective the least expensive 5* hotel in either zone? If so:At the 5* level you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North and Strip South...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
