jmoosman Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Hi- we are trying to book 4 nights in Maui in the Kaanapali area at a resort (presumably the Sheraton, Westin, or Hyatt). We prefer the Sheraton due to the snorkeling there and I've been watching Hotwire for a month or two. Our travel isn't until October, and so far it looks like the Westin (same amenities as the Hyatt but non smoking) every time. Here comes my question- when I split up the days and did just the first 2 nights it looked like the Sheraton (with laundry). Does anyone know if the "add a night" is always available now on Hotwire or is it randomly available? We have already booked our airfare so we need the 4 nights, but I'd love to book the 2 if we could extend the stay. Does my rambling question make sense? Thanks so much!Jennifer
thereuare Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Even when offered, the ability to extend your stay is not guaranteed. HOTWIRE could come back with the ability to extend at a much higher price (which could be out of your budget) OR a message that there is no availability at all.For example, let's say you book a hotel for a Wednesday nite... with the Tuesday before available but the hotel is sold-out for Thursday. HOTWIRE doesn't know if you'd want to extend your stay for Tuesday or Thursday, even though it will give you the option to try. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jmoosman Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 Thanks for your reply- I was suspicious about counting on the extra days. Lucky for me when I checked the full 4 night stay we wanted a few hours later, the same hotel was listed for all 4 nights at the same price. So we booked it and it was indeed the Sheraton, as we desired. Our stay is 10/9-10/13 for $201/ night the property was listed as a 4* hotel in Kaanapali-ResortBeach FrontSmoke FreeFitness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CenterLaundry FacilitiesHigh Speed InternetGolf NearbyTennis NearbySpa ServicesChildren's Activity ProgramI know we paid less last year for this property, but the current listed prices for it are around $300/night so we're still happy. Didn't want to bid on PRICELINE for this one since we strongly prefer the Sheraton. As always, used your link to connect to HOTWIRE.
thereuare Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Nice to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and at a nice discount to a conventionally booked room for these nites... glad you're pleased with the results.Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
