Eaglebelf Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 I'm new and I'm trying to find a 3* hotel in Destin for 07/29/11 and 07/30/11. I've seen some good deals in may for around $100 but I know these are completely different dates. Since Destin has only one zone I'm guessing I can only bid so many times a day. It won't seem to let me pick other areas outside of Destin and still include it as a zone so I'm assuming that's not possible. So far I've managed to get a couple bids in.$100 rejected$105 rejected$110 rejectedNow I'm just getting "you've already tried this bid" every time. Any other things I should know that would help?
petrel800 Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 I think you are going to be very short at your current bids. Ran a check on Expedia, there are a lot of 3* and 4* hotels sold out completely for that date, and of the known Priceline hotels on this site, the cheapest is $189/nt, and 2 are $249, the other shows as unavailable. You'll either need to up your bid by a good amount, or select a lower rated hotel most likely. Maybe book a room conventionally, and then try priceline closer to the date and hope for some cancellations or lack of interest in what is left at this point.Sorry, not the best news, but it looks like a tough weekend. Probably everyone's last harrah before the kids go back to school.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 petrel800, thanks for the info...Eaglebelf, what is the best deal you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for this trip? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Eaglebelf Posted July 9, 2011 Author Report Posted July 9, 2011 In may the best deal I found was a 3* for $100. When I was on priceline and I did their calculator it said last week there was a successful bid in this area for $125. I was hoping not to go over $140 a night.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 What rates were in May is no longer relevant, you need to know your best deal available at this point in time. As well, the winning bids that PRICELINE shows are not for the same dates as your own, and can differ greatly from what is needed for your own stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Eaglebelf Posted July 9, 2011 Author Report Posted July 9, 2011 I really don't know the best deals available. I can't seem to find any deals recently in Destin to compare to so that's my main problem. How do I find that out?
