Priceline Hotel: Recommend strategy: DFW North/South, Downtown

Please recommend a bidding strategy for the following parameters:

Date: Friday, May 27 (one night)

Zone (in order of preference): Downtown, DFW South, DFW North

Price: $50 or less

Price is more important than zone.

Before moving forward with Priceline, i would have a look at HOTWIRE

If the (DFW Airport - Las Colinas) zone is acceptable to you, there are the following hotels available:

3.5* - $52

3* - $46

2.5* - $36

Assuming you've never used hotwire before, you can then use GIFTCARD06 to get an extra $10 off the above rates... bringing all of them well within your price range.

You could choose to just take one of the above (choosing between low price vs. quality) or you could try to beat it on Priceline, but if the above zone is acceptable to you then going as high as $50 on Priceline would be an overbid relative to the HOTWIRE deals above.

Going with Hotwire sounds like a fine approach.

Can anyone offer tips on which Hotwire zone in Dallas is best for the following goals:

1. Dropping friend off at DFW rental car depot.

2. Hanging around Deep Ellum/West End for a short while.

3. Getting out of Dallas fairly quickly on Saturday morning to drive to College Station.

4. Not getting lost!

I was thinking about the DFW and Downtown zones.

As your date is approaching, if you don't get a reply from anyone local i would take a look at the HOTWIRE map/boundaries and try to come up with a plan.

It's specifically because I am a grad student that I need as much help as I can get. :-)

I decided on DFW zone after hearing that Dallas traffic will be thicker than BBQ sauce on Memorial Day weekend.
