Vancouver Resident Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 A successful bid for a great price during peak summer season in Vienna. * Vienna, Austria in the City Centre (zone 1) * Checkin / Checkout: August 24-September 4, 2011 (11 nights) * Looking for one room at the 4* or 5* level * Result: Le Meridien for $98 / night * Total: $1229 (includes $151 in taxes and fees)Things to note: * Began bidding at $75 / night, increased bid by $5 then by $3 for final bid of $98 / night. * I never bid higher than $98 and I only bid $98 once (ended up being my accepted bid). * I bid once every 24 hours though some days I did not bid at all. * I did not use the free re-bid option. * I did not change my zones or dates while bidding. * I never received a counter-offer for any of my bids. * My bid was accepted 7 weeks before my check-in date. * In total I submitted 14 bids over the last several weeks. * The day my bid was accepted, the median price shown was $175 (this price varied wildly over the weeks from a low of $158 to a high of $227). When it was $158 I bid $75 and it was rejected. * The day my bid was accepted rooms were going for $169 on the hotel's website (and higher elsewhere) so I saved at least 42%.
