photomikey Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Bid $70, rejected.Bid $80, rejected. Was running out of rebid zones (1 left!) and really needed the win... bid $100 and got La Quinta Resort. Very nice place.Arrived late in the evening of the 2nd, property was very full. Got a free upgrade to a Spa Villa Suite, basically from one of the smallest rooms in the hotel to one of the largest. 900sf, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen and livingroom. In light of this, decided to attempt to stay a 2nd night. Approached the front desk with hat in hand the next morning, the lady said she couldn't tell what my rate was since I'd booked with an "opaque service". She asked me what my rate was. I told her. Her eyes bugged out of her head. She said she couldn't match that, but their best available rate for a regular room that night was $107. She (unbelievably) gave me that for my 2nd night.$27/night resort fee is tantamount to highway robbery, but given the circumstances I could hardly complain.Didn't get a chance to see the regular rooms, but our spa suite... very nice.Of course, used the board's PRICELINE link.
AaronJB Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Fantastic result for this LQ property, and glad to hear that you had a terrific stay.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.
photomikey Posted July 7, 2011 Author Report Posted July 7, 2011 To clarify, the property is not a LQ, it's a Waldof-Astoria - part of the Hilton chain. La Quinta is the name of the town. :-)
