YankeeCaliguy Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I wouldn't mind getting in on the $120 Waldorf Astoria deals or maybe similar hotel with sub $120 price.Currently in my 72hr holding pattern after trying this strategy,Select 4* MTE...Bid $105, if rejected close browser.Select 4* MTW...Bid $105, if rejected add MTE....Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120.Any tips?
thereuare Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!When are you eligible to bid again? Are you willing to add UM/CPS to your bidding? What is your maximum bid? thenewbie Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Your dates are similar to the dates I've been attempting, and aren't cheap compared to other weekends. There is a large concert at Randall's Island on Sat/Sun which is likely impacting Manhattan hotel rates.For your reference: Yesterday, I bid up to $135 for 4* in MTW 7/29-31 with no success.
TBQ Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 There is a large concert at Randall's Island on Sat/Sun which is likely impacting Manhattan hotel rates. In addition to the concert, there is also a large fashion accessories trade show at the Javits Center. MTW (especially) and MTE are usually impacted by sizeable Javits shows (keeping in mind that blocked rooms might be released after the booking deadline).
YankeeCaliguy Posted May 30, 2005 Author Report Posted May 30, 2005 I'm definitely willing to add UM/CPS to the bid and to also split once. I was considering going the cheap route and just staying at hotel 31, but with rates in the $85-105 range, it didn't make much sense to not try priceline in the $120 range. Pretty much just looking for the best hotel at $400 OTD for the entire 3 night stay.
thereuare Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 What about the Best Western for $119/nite. Location is a bit west but the hotel is pretty new.I think if you could raise your bid another $20 or so you could have success at a 4* property. YankeeCaliguy Posted June 1, 2005 Author Report Posted June 1, 2005 So after waiting 72 hours, I tried this strategy:Bid $120 for MTW....RejectedBid $125 for MTW and MTE...Got the Waldorf Astoria!Deals are there, hope this helps thenewbie.Time to go check the reviews!
YankeeCaliguy Posted June 1, 2005 Author Report Posted June 1, 2005 Can I transfer from a far rockaway A to a 4,5, or 6 at Nassau/b'way?? Going from JFK to Waldorf Astoria.
thenewbie Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 Looks like Yes -> 4 & 5.http://mta.info/nyct/service/aline.htm
YankeeCaliguy Posted June 1, 2005 Author Report Posted June 1, 2005 Yeah, I figured I could, but didn't want to mis-read the MTA map with an 11yo in tow.
