traveljenz Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Looking for a good deal on a hotel in Chicago for 8/18 - 8/20. Would really like to stay at the Wit so i'm wondering my best bets for getting something like that. Which area should i choose? Is Priceline or Hotwire different in the hotels they offer up? Is there a best time to bid? The trip is over a month away, am I likely to get a better deal waiting a while? Any help is much appreciated!
AaronJB Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)You can find a discussion of timing (as well as other topics) in the forum FAQ. The lists of hotels reported to the board in Illinois on both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE can be found at this link. There is no way to guarantee a particular property with either service. In terms of the city, the North Michigan Ave. area (River North-NMA on PRICELINE, Mag Mile/Streeterville or NMA-Gold Coast-Water Tower on HOTWIRE) is further from museums, but offers more in the way of shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The Loop is closer to museums and offers some shopping and restaurants, but gets quiet at night. What would be your desired budget per night?I'll also note the Air/Water show is 8/20 & 21.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
traveljenz Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 118 a night. Searched for 2 adults. Any thougths on what this is?4-star Hotel in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold CoastThis Hotel features the following amenities:Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access
thereuare Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 These amenities are common for the area and the Allerton Crowne Plaza, Affinia and Westin Michigan Avenue have all been seen with this amenity set, so any of these would be likely, but of the three my best guess is the Allerton Crowne Plaza. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
traveljenz Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 We'd like to be 120$ a night or less knowing that parking will be expensive. Thanks for the tips, I havn't been to Chicago in a long time so i'm trying to refamiliarize myself with the area.
AaronJB Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Parking at Navy Pier is, last I checked, about $20-24 per night, so that is a less expensive alternative, although it is a trek from NP (although a pleasant trek) to some of the hotels in other parts of the zone.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
