fmax Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 I had great success on priceline last year using advice from this site and obtained the Felix for $70 + tax.For the above dates, I'm wondering the best strategy to get another great 4* deal. I think my first choice would be the river north area as I liked the location of the Felix and found it to be close to a lot of places. I'm sure a lot of focus will be on food, so that's a consideration as well. What would be the best rebidding strategy for river north, or as alternative zone 7. think my upper limit per night would be around $120. As an aside, parking isn't an issue as I don't have a car. Wouldn't use a gym although a pool would be nice but definitely not a deal breaker, and is free wifi even available at any hotel - I'm seeing a lot of people commenting they're paying for that. Any help is much appreciated.
thereuare Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 The Loop zone gets a bit quiet at nite and not as much nightlife and/or restaurants... although it's somewhat easy enough to go from one zone to the other, the NMA zone would likely be more convenient for your plans. How high are you willing to bid for the NMA zone before adding the Loop zone... OR is your goal the least expensive 4* or better for this stay? Also, we can try for the complete stay first, but if that is not successful, i do think you might benefit from SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, would this be an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fmax Posted July 3, 2011 Author Report Posted July 3, 2011 I was initially thinking the best 4 star, but would consider trying up to $100 for NMA before adding Loop.I hadn't thought of splitting as it's only a 3 night stay, but it would be a consideration. Thanks for your input.
thereuare Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 I don't think that $100 will be enough for this complete stay in the NMA zone, but we'll start with that and take it from there...At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* NMA...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected, do you want to then try up to $100 for the Loop zone OR do you prefer to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID to try again for a 4* hotel in the NMA zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. fmax Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 I'm up to $100 for NMA with no success, with 2 rebids left as I started at $85. I'm debating whether to add in Loop for next bid at $100 but I would be interested to hear what you suggest with regards to splitting. If I was to consider splitting, how would I split it up?
AaronJB Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I'm seeing a 3.5* in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area on HOTWIRE for $112 w/bed choice, breakfast, fitness, business, laundry, internet for 8/11-13. This is a possible match for the Amalfi and while a bit over what you were hoping to spend, if this is the Amalfi that's a very nice hotel with a great location and free breakfast and an evening reception.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 If I was to consider splitting, how would I split it up?If you were to split, i'd suggest trying 8/12-8/14 first. (although at the moment i'm not seeing the same rates as yesterday, so not as optimistic split will you you as much as i believed yesterday)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fmax Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 Thanks for all the advice. I saw a couple of $80 bids accepted for Hyatt Regency and decided to try $85 for that and was accepted for all 3 nights. The money saved over trying for NMA specifically can go towards eating out :)
AaronJB Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Terrific deal for this recently renovated Hyatt, which is just across the bridge from the NMA area (at the top of the Loop zone.)Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
