Hotwire Hotel: 4* Charleston (Downtown) Marriott

Purchased 4 star downtown with the following amenities : smoke free, fitness center, restaurant, pool & laundry. Received the Charleston Marriott. Quality and location are both deceptive. Hotel not considered 4 star by TripAdvisor, AAA, Expedia, Priceline, Hotels.com, Booking.com & others. Marriott recognizes this hotel as a 3 diamond AAA property. Charlestonians do not consider this downtown. Priceline does not consider this downtown (they have it zoned as Ashley River). Purchased a 3 star room at a 4 star price. Hotwire denied my appeal to give me what they sold & I purchased, a 4 star downtown hotel.

Just made a Hotwire purchase and got burned by the same thing! They stated in their description that it was 0.0-1.7 miles away from downtown, but it is actually 2.3 miles from downtown and its not even in the Historic District. I have called Hotwire and complained and they say there is nothing they can do, so I am just informing everyone I know not to use Hotwire and go with Priceline. Hotwires Map wasn't even working when we booked it, if it was working, i would of much rather paid full price and got something downtown, not near downtown. What a joke.
