juju1242 Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 Hi, I'm visiting NYC 8/24-8/26. We plan to take a train up to NYC and are getting off at Penn Station. I'm interested in CPS, Empire State Building Area, MSG, Midtown West, or Time Square Theatre District. I'm considering Chelsea Area and Midtown East. Is $120 reasonable for a hotel in these areas with a 3 star? Do you have any recommendations/help for bidding for these areas? We plan to go to a Broadway show & to a Yankees game but definitely want to stay in Manhattan. Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Are you 'ok' with a hotel which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway? What about a very small room (~150sq ft)?Let us know the above and we'll comment regarding your zone choices and take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... please click this PRICELINE link before replying.Thanks. juju1242 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Report Posted June 30, 2011 I would prefer a hotel that is close to a subway. A small room is okay. Thanks so much for your help...hoping to place bids tonight!

juju1242 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Report Posted July 1, 2011 Clicked on PRICELINE link....but just went to Priceline page?? Am I missing something?
thereuare Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Am I missing something?Nope, please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board each time you access the respective site(s).I would prefer a hotel that is close to a subway. Is 15 minutes too far? If so, that may help your decision to exclude MTE from your bidding... Chelsea can go a bit far west, but isn't as far from the subway as some of the MTE hotels.Based upon current rates i'm guessing that $120 will probably fall a little short, but let us know if you wan to include MTE and/or Chelsea in your bidding or not and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. juju1242 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Report Posted July 1, 2011 Great, thanks for your help! 15 minute is a lite too far so let's exclude MTE from my bidding and let's add Chelsea as a last resort. What do you think the price range would be for a 3* hotel? I'm willing to increase my bid if need be. I will begin bidding once you give strategy, thanks again.!
thereuare Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I think $140 at least gets you closer to a higher probability of success, but is still by no means a 'sure win'.So to confirm, you want to bid for a 3* or higher hotel in the CPS, ESB, MSG, MTW, or TS zones. We'll use $140 as a maximum but you can stop at whatever level you feel comfortable. At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* CPS and MSG and MTW...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* ESB and TS...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* ESB and MSG and MTW...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS and TS...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* TS and MSG and MTW...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* ESB and CPS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* TS and MSG and MTW and ESB...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* TS and MSG and MTW and CPS...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* ESB and CPS and TS and MSG...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* ESB and CPS and TS and MTW...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* ESB and CPS and TS and MSG and MTW...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
