jgwcrna
2 moms, 3 kids, heading to DC for Fall Break (Oct. 2- Oct 8) - would like to stay as close to Mall area as possible, but open to something close to Metro in Arlington since we won't have a car. We have traveled together before and stayed in one room, but always had 2 beds. I know this is an issue with Priceline, but if price is right, could get 2 rooms. Looking for 3 or 4 stars, hoping to find something between $100-$150/nt. Do you think this is possible for our time frame? Looking for suggestions on area to stay, pointers on what to bid for and how much. Thanks for your help! Link to comment
thereuare
Looking for 3 or 4 stars, hoping to find something between $100-$150/nt.Just to clarify.. this is total room cost per nite? So if you were to get two rooms it would need to be $50-$75 per room? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jgwcrna
No, sorry. It would be nice to be able to split the cost if we shared a room, but if we can't, we would like to keep it as close as we can to that amount per room. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
OK, to confirm, you're looking to use PRICELINE for 2 rooms. Note that you'll still be over the 'only guarantees double occupancy' limit on one of the rooms... is this a risk you're willing to accept?A quick look at rates shows that these nites within 'DC proper' are on the high side at this point, and the issue with staying in the outlying areas is that unless the zone is geographically small, it's tough to ensure that you'll be within walking distance of a Metro station (or that the hotel will provide shuttle service). What do you want to try for first... a 3* (or 3.5* or 4*) up to your limit within 'DC proper'? If so let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly... or do you see something on HOTWIRE of interest? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jgwcrna
When you say "at this point", are we trying this too early? Do the rates get better on Priceline the closer you are to your dates? Link to comment
thereuare
There is no telling if rates will go lower... or even higher... between now and your stay.
