BCOOP24 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Report Posted June 30, 2011 Hi, I am new to this site and I'm searching for a hotel for a family of 3 for July 14-18th, 2 beds and preferably $300 or less. Would like to be as close to time square as possible. I'd like advice on what to do-Priceline or Hotwire? I would like help with a strategy if priceline is recommend as well because I have never used Priceline. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread. Thanks. :)As noted above, please confirm which zones you are interested in. Additionally, while Times Square is popular, it's not recommended - it's often the most expensive zone (and other nearby zones are not a terribly far trek from it) and it's often crowded. You can read more in this Times Square Hotels thread.Additionally, PRICELINE would not be recommended in this case, as it does not guarantee two beds. While you can request two beds with the hotel, the hotel may be unwilling or unable - and in NYC there is a high risk that they will not offer a room with two beds. Given the size of the rooms in NYC and the low supply of rooms with two beds (which often go for a premium) hotels are certainly much more likely to offer a room w/1 bed. With HOTWIRE, if you search for the amount of people in the room, you are ensured of some form of bedding for the entire party. That could certainly be 2 beds, but may be another combination - 1 + sofabed or 1 + rollaway. HOTWIRE is somewhat-to-moderately more expensive usually, but with PRICELINE in NYC, you may be stuck with a small room (even at the 3.5*/4*) level with no space for additional bedding.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

BCOOP24 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Report Posted June 30, 2011 I would like to be as close to Times Square/theatre district as possible and we'd like to keep it under $300.
thereuare Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 How about what i'm guessing to be the Omni Berkshire for $219/nite... it's a 4* which gets very good reviews. At 52nd St and Madison Ave, would this get you close enough to Times Square? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 If you go to HOTWIRE and search for your dates, 2adults/1child, there is a 4* hotel offered in the MTE zone with Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, Business, 95% Recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests, and a 4.5/5.0 Triapdvisor rating. This matches previous reports for the Omni Berkshire so that would be my best guess for this one (the W New York and Doubletree have also been seen with this amenity set, but neither of those have a 4.5/5.0 TA rating)Do you see this offer on you own HOTWIRE search? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Bump/reply to this thread later in the morning/early afternoon and we'll see if it has returned, otherwise we'll pursue other options. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Probably (your price may differ slightly from my price)... it should have Restaurant, Fitness, Internet and Business icons... and after clicking the CONTINUE button (with the price in it) scroll near the bottom of the subsequent page under the map it should show a Tripadvisor rating of 4.5/5.0Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
