JoeR Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Hello,I'll be staying on vacation in New York from August 14-22nd and I'm looking for some help with priceline bidding.Ideally I'd like a 4star for under $170 and if that fails, a 3.5 star-some zones have hotels at some star levels which can be a 15 minute walk to the subway, would this be acceptable?I think closer to the subway would be preferable-some hotels can have extremely small rooms, starting at 150sq ft (think 12ft x 12ft)... would this be acceptable? As long as it has a private bath I'm a happy camper.-Downtown-Soho is usually close to a subway, but if most of your activities will take place in midtown it will be a 20-25 minute ride, would this still be considered 'convenient' enough for your needs? (less of an issue if most of your activities are downtown or in the Village)Anything below 60th street seems fine to me.Thank you for your help

JoeR Posted June 28, 2011 Author Report Posted June 28, 2011 Alright, I have read the message and clicked the PRICELINE link. Also, I think I'd like to add an addendum to my initial post and say that I would like to avoid Downtown - SoHo - Financial District as it's a little far from where the action is.
thereuare Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 At the moment, i think a 4* at $170 or under may be a little bit of a stretch, but currently i do think you'll be able to get a 3.5* for that price. However, since your preference is for a 4* let's start there, and i'll assume that MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB are all acceptable, as these are the most frequently bid and centrally located zones at the 4* level. When bidding 4* in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS and ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
