epatten Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Hi! I am looking to get a hotel Nov. 2-7 in NYC. This happens to fall right over the New York City Marathon, and hotel prices are incredibly high. I have bid on Priceline already (I went as low at 2.5 stars, with all the geographic areas predominately in the city for $135) with no luck. I know I am probably bidding too low. I was wondering if anyone has had any success over the marathon weekend, or had any suggestions. I would like to stay on or under the $200 mark, and be in as nice of a hotel as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!
thereuare Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Historically this is a very busy weekend in NYC and most years rates remain quite high... if bookings are very light we sometimes see hotels drop rates at the very last minute, but i wouldn't count on this, as even if bookings are light hotels would likely try to sell rooms on their own (at full price for last minute walk-in customers) rather than offer a very deep discount. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Would you stay across the river (in Hoboken/Jersey City and commute into Manhattan)? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
