bowserco Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 I will use the HOTWIRE link next time (new account)5* on the North StripAmenities I recall that distinguished it from the others (not the full list, didn't record it before finding your site -- sorry)SuiteResortGolf NearbyHotwire room rate was $137 / night. Expedia was quoting around $187 for the same stay I recall, which I checked immediately after booking and getting the Palazzo. The stay included Saturday and Sunday nights (the most expensive nights for Vegas hotels from what I can tell). Taxes and fees made it $158.33 / night. Mandatory resort fees during the stay were added directly at an additional cost of $17/night ($19.04 with tax) on top of the $158.33 I'd already paid in advance through Hotwire. The room was booked on 5/17, about 3 1/2 weeks before the stay. I did see Hotwire varied the price a bit each day when I was checking over a few days ($135 - $146).Post Stay Comments:- This hotel *ROCKED* -- it's probably one of the nicest I've ever stayed in. It's very new (no more than 3 years old)- Room had 3 LCD flat panel TVs in the room (including one in the bathroom) -- 2 of them had HD service- sunken living room area (2 steps down) was a high-end touch, although there's no a wall between the living and sleeping areas (something I normally associate with "suite"). (I wonder how many people have wiped out on those stairs down after having a few drinks!)- no fridge to stash a few sodas- bathroom was stunning, lots of marble, nice tub and a separate glass walled-shower that was nice and large. Loved the TV in the bathroom. Toilet was in a completely separate room with a door.- watch out for the boxes of candy sitting there with a pressure-sensitive panel beneath them ... they warned me it will automatically bill your room if you touch one- front desk clerk gave me a room on a much higher floor (42) at no charge when I asked. It was not a strip view but was still very nice overall.- as far as I can tell this was their "standard" king room -- 720 sq ft. It did seem pretty large- the wireless internet access was horrible -- signal strength was good but it seemed like all 3000 rooms were using the connection at once -- horribly slow most times- amazing lobby and shopping areas -- this was a true 5 star property- at this price point / resort fee, I was disappointed about having to use public-access "we charge you by the second" internet terminals located just off the lobby to print airline boarding passes -- spent $12 doing this with two printed pages.Great overall Hotwire experience with this one. The taxes and mandatory resort fees do add up, so it wasn't quite as good of a deal as it first seemed.
