gstarr Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 I was thinking anywhere between $90 - $115 per night. I'm thinking of staying a night in Japer, Banff, and Lake Louise
thereuare Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 To clarify, have you made any bids in the Lake Louis zones yet?Are you willing to pay more to stay in one of these zones vs. the other(s) OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better in any of these zones? Please let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gstarr Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 I'd like to stay in all 3 destinations if possible. First night would be best for Japer on the 1st but I know it's a holiday so it's probably more expensive.I was thinking then Banff for Saturday night as there's more to doFinally lake louise for the 3rd night as it's closer to some hikes i'm interested in & the national park.I've rebid to each zones and have been rejected again $115 for each option. Not to sure what I should do anymore. Do they keep your old bids? I know others who were accepted for less. I'm wondering if I should just book with some of the names that say $133 Hotwire 3* not sure what hotel but it's in the area. Also I read $150 for I believe Banff Ptarmigan for $150. It's more then I'd like to pay; but I'm mostly into the location. What do you recommend?
Romelle Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 If you post back with the Hotwire detail (rate/dates/#people/amenities list) somebody here can make pretty good guess as to what hotel you will receive. For that matter, if you are not wanting to wait for a response - look at the list of Hotwire hotels (first post in the Canada - Hotwire area) and you can sometimes sleuth it out yourself by comparing amenities. The guess is never 100% as the hotels do change those amenities lists, but it does improve the odds.Romelle
thereuare Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Let's backtrack...Is 7/22 just the first nite of a 3 nite stay and you want to stay in a different zone each nite? Are you looking to win this first nite and then whichever zone you win, exclude that zone for each of the other 2 nites of this trip? For the bids you've made for 7/22, how high have you bid and which zone(s) have you included in your bidding? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gstarr Posted June 28, 2011 Author Report Posted June 28, 2011 My planned trip is to drive from Vancouver to Japer and sleep there July 1stOn July 2nd I'd prefer to sleep in Banff districtThen on July 3rd I was hoping to stay in Lake Louise but could also stay in Banff againTo clarify I started researching for the best deals on 7/22 yet will be driving up really early on July 1st (Friday)The most important thing to me is the location, so I have been requesting Japer/ Banff/ lake 9 district (lake louise) only the main area and not in the outskirts so I wont have to have long drives in the morning as our time is limited :)There is 4 of us; in one room with 2 queen beds, I was going to call the hotel after booking to upgrade or confirm.I found hot wire has $128 3* with amenities fitness, restaurant, golf. Do you know what this hotel would be? I'd like to make another bid tonight but am not sure what's best to do? Thank you
thereuare Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 My planned trip is to drive from Vancouver to Japer and sleep there July 1stOn July 2nd I'd prefer to sleep in Banff districtThen on July 3rd I was hoping to stay in Lake Louise but could also stay in Banff againSince this is three separate stays, we'll use this thread for your first stay in Lake Louise, please start NEW TOPICS for each of your other two stays. There is 4 of us; in one room with 2 queen beds, I was going to call the hotel after booking to upgrade or confirm. You won't always be able to upgrade to a room with two beds, even for a fee... some hotels simply won't change a PRICELINE / HOTWIRE reservation even if you're willing to pay (or the fee could be ridiculously expensive, almost the cost of another PRICELINE or HOTWIRE room). Is this a risk you're willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gstarr Posted June 29, 2011 Author Report Posted June 29, 2011 I'm not quite sure how to start separate topics ...but I believe Lake Louise will be too expensive. So as for now I will just stay in Banff for 2 nights July 2-4th.
