glasgowdave Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Hi GuysI have been a lurker on here for some time, but have never plucked upthe courage to actually attempt a bid.I am taking my wife to London for a special occassion on the weekendof 22nd to 24th July. (2 Nights)I am unfamiliar with London, but would like to stay centrally near the Theatre district in a good 4 or 5 Star Hotel. My Budget is approx
Romelle Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I found this nice theater map. I'd suggest you compare it with the Priceline London zone maps and pick out the zones that meet your desires.Note the Underground symbols on the theater map. If you zoom down on the Priceline specific zone maps, you can also see the underground symbols. Along with the street names, the underground symbols will help you compare the maps. I'd guess you will want Mayfair, but you are the judge. When you bid on a Priceline zone, you have to be prepared to accept a hotel ANYWHERE in the colored area of the particular zone.Maybe another member who has greater familiarity with the London theater area will also step in with some zone advice.Your budget seems to me to be very generous for a 4*, and probably even a 5*. I'm just a member, not a moderator, but until one of them steps in to help you through the bidding process I think there is something you should try. Just to get your feet wet in the bidding process, you could submit a bid so low there is no chance of it getting accepted. Maybe $75 for the 5* in the Mayfair zone. Do make it low enough though. Many years ago I submitted what I though was just a test bid in London, and it went through. Fortunately I had entered a zone I wanted, and dates I wanted. I was very happy with the price. If you enter "london" in the Quick Search box straight above on this page, you will see lots of London bidding results. If you put your dates in the Calendar of Wins (center of page), and select "Other Countries - Priceline" you will see if there are any winning bids for your exact dates. And while you are there, it is always interesting to select "Other Countries - Hotwire" too. Romelle
