bigo68 Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Hi everyone:I will be in Chicago from 7/9/11 through 7/12/11. On Hotwire I am finding a 4* hotel for $102 per night in the Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast area (earlier today it was $96 per night). The listed amenities are: Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free, Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet, and Golf. The only red flag is that it is currently recommended in only 20% of customer reviews.1) Do you know of any hotels that fit the star rating and amenities?2) Should I be concerned with the fact that it has been recommended in only 20% of customer reviews?Thank you in advance!
AaronJB Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)My guess is that this may be the Whitehall; if this is the Whitehall, the tripadvisor reviews are not great, but they aren't terrible and the location is terrific. It's an older, indepdent property right off Michigan Ave - 4* is a bit generous. I'd be curious as to the reasoning behind the 20% approval rating, as the hotel's overall rating isn't that dire. I'm also seeing a 4* in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area w/fitness, business, restauraunt, pool, smoke-free, internet. That's likely the Sheraton, and while not my favorite property, that's a bit more consistent choice for not much more at $116.
bigo68 Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 Thank you very much for the quick reply! This forum is a great tool. I am glad I asked about this bid because I don't think I would have been pleased with the choice! Thanks also for pointing out the Sheraton. Can you elaborate more on why it's not your favorite property? I read some average reviews on Tripadvisor Also, are 4* and above hotels in Magnificent Mile-Streeterville area sometimes located on the south side of the Chicago River as depicted in the Hotwire map? If yes, is it difficult to get to the Near North Side area. We are looking to spend a lot of time on or around Michigan Avenue on the North Near Side.Thank you!
