mojomojo Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Looking to grab the 3.5* Marriott Buffalo, having trouble biddingThis is for July 29 - Aug 1.$50 - rejected$55 - added zone + rejected$60 - added zone + rejected$65 - added zone + rejected$70 - added zone + rejected$75 - added zone + rejected$76 - added zone + rejectedSo I've done 7 zones total and got rejected. I checked the priceline Pricelist, and it seems like I'm already paying higher than all of the winning prices.

mojomojo Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks, I'm looking at around the range of 65-75$.

thereuare Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 What is your maximum bid for this stay... at the moment it think availability is a little tough/higher for the weekend nites of this stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 If you've already bid up to your limit there isn't much more you can do other then:-raise your maximum bid-lower your star rating-consider other nearby zones-SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID (often not a great option for a 3 nite stay)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. mojomojo Posted June 29, 2011 Author Report Posted June 29, 2011 would reducing the days work?So instead, 2 days of 3 days.
thereuare Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 You could try reducing the number of nites, but at the moment i think it may be an availability issue... with only one 'known' 3.5* hotel in the zone, if they have not released inventory (or deeply discounted inventory) to PRICELINE, then your bidding will be futile at the moment.A quick look reveals no wins reported to the board at the 3.5* level for August yet, so it's possible that the hotel has only released inventory thru the end of July.Of course you could try bidding 7/29-7/31 and/or 7/30-8/1, and i'd perhaps even bid as high as $80 (since it's also possible that the hotel is seeing increased bookings over the last few months), but i'd be inclined to wait this one out a week or two and see if (hopefully) August inventory gets released. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if there is any further advice we can assist with.Good luck. mojomojo Posted July 3, 2011 Author Report Posted July 3, 2011 I've lowered the amount of days stayed + increased my max.I'm up to $92 and still no luck yet.will continue to try this.
thereuare Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Given that inventory may not have been released yet, if you're not, i'd suggest starting your future bids lower then your last highest bid (if you're not sure what i mean just post back with the actual bid sequences you made and i'll explain further)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. mojomojo Posted July 5, 2011 Author Report Posted July 5, 2011 I think I kind of get what you mean, this is my bid today:$40 - rejected$45 - added zone + rejected$50 - added zone + rejected$60 - added zone + rejected$85 - added zone + rejected$95 - accepted (July 30 - August 1, 2 nights Marriott Buffalo)thanks for help. quite a bit more than expected, but nevertheless, cheaper than $100 max bid.
thereuare Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Sorry to see this took a bit more than originally expected, but glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for, under your maximum budget, and lower than a hotel direct purchase.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
