Bellarosa Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Hi all. I'm VERY new to Priceline, but have read through the forums quite a bit and think I have a handle on it. I was just hoping for some advice on my particular situation.I need two rooms for 7/19-7/24 (5 nights) and we would like to stay at a 4* in the White House area. I've looked at the list of hotels on here and we are fine with any of the properties. I guess my question is what should our starting bid be? I've seen people who have won hotels in this area for under $100 per night, but not at this time of year. The rack rates all seem to be $300+ per night. We were hoping to get something for less than $160 per night.Thank you for any help you can offer!
thereuare Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! At the moment, based upon current prices, i think a 4* hotel in the White House zone may be tough, but you may be successful at $160 or less in other frequently bid nearby zones, such as Dupont Circle-Woodley Park and/or Convention Center-Capitol Hill. Have you considered these other zones? We can suggest a strategy for whichever zones are acceptable, and you could try just White House-Downtown up to your limit, then if rejected add/consider the other zones, but if price is a factor, you may want to consider the least expensive of any of three zones, assuming all will work for your needs.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Bellarosa Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 Thank you! I think I'd like to try the White House zone first, and then maybe Dupont Circle if our first choice doesn't work out.
erikandtamiMI Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 If you can wait until the last minute and don't have any luck with Priceline, give Hotwire a try! We were able to book a 4 star for $100/night for 2 nights the day before we left for our trip and lucked out landing the Capital Hilton which is about 2 blocks from the White House and less than a block from the Metro.
