subiechan Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Hello allI am using Hotwire for the first time (wish me luck!) and was wondering if you experts might be able to help me out or offer advice.Right now I'm looking at a 2* hotel on hotwire, ammedities pool, internet, breakfast laundry for $36 per night. My budget is under $200 for hotel stay + fees.Destination Williamsburg, VACheckin 7/10Checkout 7/141 room, 1 child, 1 adultI'm hoping to ID this hotel. Any help would be appriciated. Forgot to add that I can only stay in the Colonial Williamsburg - Busch Gardens area because the rest of my family is in a hotel there.

subiechan Posted June 25, 2011 Author Report Posted June 25, 2011 This is my first time using either Priceline or Hotwire. I'm looking to book a hotel from 7-10-11 to 7-14-11 in Williamsburg VA (Colonial Busch area). one room, one adult and one child. My goal is to keep the hotel stay under $200 (the lower the better obviously). I would like to get a 2.5* or 3* but 2* is the lowest I will go.I tried Priceline dozens of times and gave up. No matter what combo I used they wouldn't accept it. So I've been watching Hotwire instead. I've seen previously people getting hotels in my area, 2.5 and 3* priced in the 30s and 40s per night. HOW? Do you have to book pretty well in advance to get these kinds of prices?Any help or advice, I greatly appreciate.
thereuare Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread, if you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll then move this entire thread to that section of the board.Rates are date specific, so you may not be able to replicate another user's win if rates for your dates are higher (then when the other user won). As this is often a family vacation destination, hotels may be busier during the summer (when kids are off from school) and therefore a higher bid then usual may be necessary to win a hotel. What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable 2.5* or 3* hotel thru traditional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
