Priceline Hotel: Help - want to stay in Medical District, need advice

Will be traveling from PA to Boston for a couple of Red Sox games this summer. Want to stay two nights, preferably at the Best Western Longwood. Have stayed there before, easy walk to Fenway. And since I work in the Hospital construction field, I enjoy walking around the medical area to see the latest buildings.

Since I am brand new at this PRICELINE thing, is there a way to assure I'd get the Best Western? Looking at the priceline hotel list there is only one other hotel in the same category, the Holiday Inn. I don't want the Holiday Inn.... Any tips/tricks that can help me? Thank you!

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.

So.... since there are only two 2.5 star hotels in the area, I'll have a 50/50 chance with Priceline of gettting the Best Western? Or is there a possibilty it could be a higher star hotel? Am I understanding correctly? Thanks!

Not really... there are two 2.5* properties reported to the board in this area. There could always be other 2.5* rated properties not yet reported to the board or recently upgraded/downgraded to the 2.5* level.

Yes, your bid could be upgraded to a higher rated hotel... the star rating you select is the minimum that you are willing to accept.
