LAX - 17 Day Car Rental in August

I booked a mid-size car in April for 4 days at $13.

Now I will need a car for 17 days in August.

I bid $13, then $14, then $15 over the last week, all unsuccessful.

Are long term rentals more expensive than short ones?

Does anyone have any long term LAX rental history?
