priceline.newbie Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Hello,I'm a first-time Priceline user and I'm looking for bidding help. I'm interested in 2 nights in a minimum 3* hotel in downtown Ottawa. Dates are Thursday June 23 to Saturday June 25.Any advice on how to structure my bidding for the best available deal? I'm locked out of Priceline for the next 24 hours, so any advice/tips before this time tomorrow would be appreciated! Thanks :)
AaronJB Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What bids have you made so far, and what would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
priceline.newbie Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 So far I've made the following bids:Max bid for 3* = $75Max bid for 3 1/2* = $74 Max bid for 4* = $81I've tried all the zone combinations for the 3 1/2 and 4* options. How should I proceed tomorrow?I'd be willing to go as high as $100 but that seems steep given that ppl have had successful bids in the $70 to $85 range.
thereuare Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 Please start by reading your messagesRates are date specific, so you won't always be able to replicate somebody else's winning bid if rates for your own stay are higher then when the other user had won at lower rates.Did you bid the star ratings in the order posted so that you'd prefer a lower rated and less expensive hotel first, then if that is rejected you increased your star rating and budget, etc, etc... or did you bid for a 4* first, when that was rejected you lowered your star rating and budget, and so-on.Please confirm and we'll advise accordingly. If trying for a 4* first did you want to bid up to your $100 limit before trying for a 3.5* or some other bidding limit? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
