rhelle1 Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Guys,THanks for the site. Glad to be here. Just need some ideas for Hotels downtown on the above dates. Prices right now seem astronomical so i wondered if there was any convention or anything going on. Would like to get a 4 star in Magnificent Mile area or loop area. When is too early to try and start bidding? Thoughts? Thanks for your time.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates i'm seeing are not that high... what do you consider to be 'astronomical' for Chicago this time of year? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Have you tried any bidding at this point yet? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Rates are pricey, but are not unusual for downtown Chicago during the busier Summer season. If you are driving into the city, there are some very, very nice suburban areas that are much cheaper hotel-wise, and then you could take the Metra into the city. Some of the suburbs also have some nice sights, such as the famed Ravinia Music Festival (ravinia.org) or the Chicago Botanic Gardens (chicagobotanic.org) in the North 'burbs. It varies, but nice hotels in the burbs can generally be had for $40-50-60, then it's a 40-45 minute train ride into the city (although the Metra trains are very nice.) The suburbs are really for those who are driving, though - it's a bit hard to get around in some suburban areas w/o driving.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
rhelle1 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 I obviously started at 4 stars and went to 3 at 80, 85, and 90 for the NMA/ RN area. I did not try MP Loop GP area yet - simply because wife would like to be closer to shopping.
AaronJB Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 I don't think you're too far off; what would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 It may be the Friday nite which is making this stay difficult... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? (keeping mind that if successful for the first nites at $80 or less, the last nite (or remaining nites) may cost you a bit more). I'll also add that i think your chances go up significantly fi you use your previously bid $90 as your maximum (although we'd of course try lower first)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
