sonofabronc Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 I see that winning bids of $135 to $145 for a 3.5* in SOHO usually show up as Sheraton whereas winning bids under $100 show up as the World Hotel. I have read the FAQs and understand there is a risk, but do different hotels have different PRICELINE price points? I'm shooting for the Sheraton and would like to avoid the World. Thanks,
sonofabronc Posted June 16, 2011 Author Report Posted June 16, 2011 Just bid $135 per room for two rooms 3.5* in SoHo for July 9-10. Received a counteroffer at $160. What should I do?
thereuare Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Yes, different hotels have different price points, but these can change on a day-to-day basis, and the $100=World Hotel while $135=Sheraton is much too general, imo. More likely is that $100 bids were accepted during low season (most of them were around the same timeframe) and the $135 bids were during a more expensive time.If you haven't see it yet, this is a good thread regarding your issue above: DON'T BID HIGHER FOR A SPECIFIC HOTELIf you still want to move forward, how high are you willing to bid for any 3.5* or higher hotel in the Downtown zone?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to try going forward. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
