breanth Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 I'm new tto bidding and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. I'm looking for a 4 star or 3 1/2 star on Saturday July 23 in the Financial or Soma district. Before I talked to my friend who directed me here I bid $120.00 and still lost. So maybe there is a trick I don't know about?Thank you so much!!!!
thereuare Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! (and thank you to your friend for directing you here :) )Please start by reading your messages. As far as your stay above... are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better? When your bid was rejected at $120, was that at the 4* level or the 3.5* level? Are the above the only two zones you're willing to accept or is USE and/or USW an option as well? (i only ask as these are usually the first zones users bid, then add Soma and/or Financial if/when USE and USW bids are rejected)Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. breanth Posted June 14, 2011 Author Report Posted June 14, 2011 When I'm pretty open on the price I was just trying to figure out what was too much. I bid the 120.00 it was for the 4* in either of those zones and I bid $110.00 for the 3.5* and that got turned down too. My goal is 3.5* or better. I do have to have either of those area as they are close to where we need to be :)Thank you so much for your help!!!
thereuare Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 I do have to have either of those area as they are close to where we need to beYou know your plans better then i do but all four of these zones (USE, USW, Financial and SOMA) are all within about a 1.5 mile diameter so i wouldn't think that USE or USW would put you too far from where you need to be.HOWEVER, if you know your needs require either the Financial District or SOMA zones, i'm guessing you'll succeed at ~$140 or less... is this within your budget? Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. breanth Posted June 15, 2011 Author Report Posted June 15, 2011 After looking at the map better I do agree with you so last yesterday afternoon I bid all 4 of those...I bid $120.00 for a 4* in all those zones and $110.00 for 3.5* and got turned down. I think $140.00 would be my max so I will try that today :)Thank you
Gallus50 Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Hey - SF has a lot of rebid zones. You have a little wiggle room with those. Check out the post explaining rebids on this site. It's a little bit more work, but it gives you more options. (Bidding once for a bunch of zones at the same time means you might be overbidding....)
thereuare Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 When bidding 4* in this area you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. If you're confortable with and/or confirmed your re-bid zones with the board, you can bid as follows:Select 4* USE, USW, Financial, SOMA...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected we'll revise to try for a 3.5*.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
