David Kurtz Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I won this hotel via Priceline.com for $28 per night for two nights. Reviews posted elsewhere had me very concerned. Arrived around 8:00 P.M. to check-in. Layout is very odd as there is a Sports Club in front of the lobby. Lobby was clean. Service was friendly. I was in a smoking room and requested a non-smoking room. No issue with the change as there was availability. Room doors are located inside. Quite a few shady characters loitering around the hallways. The hallway towards my room was tinged with smoke, but not unbearable. Once in my room I was more pleased. The room was freshly painted so the paint odor outweighed the smoke odor. The room was clean. Bedding was clean, bathroom was clean. the furniture and mattress was old but acceptable. Inside the room I felt comfortable with my wife and 2 small children. I requested and received a crib for free. It was clean. Our room was poolside. The pool was actually quite clean. I ended up using the pool with the kids. A little too much smoking around the pool for me, but it wasn't terrible. Coming and going at night was a little bit sketchy as it seems there were quite a few long term tenants at the hotel, but I didn't feel in danger. Once inside the room I always felt secure. We had the continental breakfast the next morning. For $3.99 per person it was worth the price. We requested fresh towels from the house cleaners and got a sneer, but were given towels without a problem. The room was quiet at night. We had the air blowing all night. Nice and cool with 90 degree temps. We slept find both nights. Checkout 2 nights later with no issues. This is not a 2.5* hotel as advertised, but for the price of $28 I was actually very satisfied. As long as this is my budget for hotels, I would stay here again. If you are looking for a "nice hotel", I would NOT recommend, but if you are looking for cheap sleeping quarters...I've been in worse places.
