johnnyb Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I ran it up $75 to $115 looking at just River North - no Millinium area selected.I'll try tomorrow with the 3.5*
AaronJB Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 Unfortunately, this is an extremely expensive date - HOTWIRE has nothing in the Loop area and the cheapest downtown property is a 3* for $165. What would be your desire budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
johnnyb Posted June 13, 2011 Author Report Posted June 13, 2011 This what I'm thinking.Start at $95 for the 3.5*, I can run that up to $115, add the 4* and three more bids up to $130Or should I start my bidding on the 3*?
thereuare Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 It depends upon your needs for this stay and how you feel about paying less for a 3* vs. more for a 3.5*/4*.If you use your re-bid zones correctly you can bid for whichever star rating you'd like first, followed by your next choice, followed by your next choice. If you let us know your maximum bid at each star level, and what you'd like to try 1st, 2nd and 3rd, we can suggest a strategy for you to follow.Am I correct that you don't want to add the Loop zone at this point in time? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 With a number of properties sold out and remaining properties expensive (3*'s for as much as $225-300 regular rate), $130 may not be quite enough for a win.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
johnnyb Posted June 14, 2011 Author Report Posted June 14, 2011 I see what you mean, I just ran a 3* up to $145 on still a no go. Whats going on in the city? There's a 3* on HOTWIRE for 165, NMA water tower - gold coast. The reviews are good location nice outside but a little worn on the inside. Seems a bit much. Got tickets for the Brewers/Cubs was hoping to stay downtown but may have to rethink this.
johnnyb Posted June 14, 2011 Author Report Posted June 14, 2011 Tried $160 and was prompted to bid $200. Too much. This was 3* including MP and NMR
thereuare Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 HOTWIRE does have a 3* in the NMA zone for $165/nite with Boutique , Restaurant, Smoke Free.I'm guessing this is the Tremont Hotel, if this should work for your plans for just one nite. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. johnnyb Posted June 15, 2011 Author Report Posted June 15, 2011 I 'll run through some bids at the last minute but as of now we will take the train in from Skokie just for the game.HOTWIRE has a 2* Streeterville for $112, just shows internet... any idea?
thereuare Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 I"m not seeing htis 2* property when searching HOTWIRE for your dates, but i do see a 3* in this zone for $80 with Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. Unfortunately this property has not yet been reported to the board, but the reviews by previous HOTWIRE guests are good (mostly 4.5/5.0 ratings and one 4.0 for the criteria HOTWIRE asks past guests to rate) and perhaps this would work for this one nite stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Evanston/Skokie isn't a bad idea if you aren't able to get someplace reasonable downtown. The Northbrook/Deerfield areas would be cheaper, but further out (North). There are plenty of places to eat in the Skokie/Evanston area, as well.

Long day. Thanks Guys... as always I use the the links (a lot) here on betterbidding.com.
AaronJB Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Sorry to hear about the rain delay, but hope the day was otherwise fun.Thank you for closing the thread.
