Raider-1 Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 PL newbie here. I think I soaked up a lot of info from this forum, especially the Venn diagram of PL re-bidding. I'll definitely use the PL searchbox on the top right corner here to show my thanks when I book the room. I just want to verify a couple of items to make sure I'm on the right track:The goal is to find the lowest priced room in Niagara Falls Ontario, rated 3.5* or higher. June 19 check-in, check-out June 23.A.) PL Re-bidding.If I understood correctly, I have 5 re-bids since Niagara Falls is the only place that has a 3.5* or higher hotel in the area...right?B.) Starting bid.Where should I start the bid? How do I figure out the starting bid? Do I use previous winning bids from this board or PL's winning bids? Somehow, I feel that I missed this in the FAQs...sorry if I did.C.) Re-bid amounts. What increments should I use to increase my re-bid amounts? Thanks
thereuare Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!A.) PL Re-bidding.If I understood correctly, I have 5 re-bids since Niagara Falls is the only place that has a 3.5* or higher hotel in the area...right?At the moment, yes, this is correct... but always double check just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked.B.) Starting bid.Where should I start the bid? How do I figure out the starting bid? Do I use previous winning bids from this board or PL's winning bids? Somehow, I feel that I missed this in the FAQs...sorry if I did.C.) Re-bid amounts. What increments should I use to increase my re-bid amounts? If you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy, with starting and ending bids, for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Raider-1 Posted June 11, 2011 Author Report Posted June 11, 2011 Thanks for the reply.I don't really have a max bid since I need a room in any case. But I'd say the maximum bid should be $88 since PL has a $108 room available with free internet.
thereuare Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Note that there are now only FOUR re-bid zones available in this area since PRICELINE has eliminated/merged the zones in this region. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* Niagara Falls...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80(NOTE: you could also first try the above for a 4* hotel, then if rejected close the browser, use this link to re-access PRICELINE, and re-try at the 3.5* level)Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Raider-1 Posted June 12, 2011 Author Report Posted June 12, 2011 Thanks again for the input.I based my bids below on the info from this thread and from others (namely, Niagara Falls Hotel and Priceline Niagara Falls ):1st bid 3.5* @ $66, rejected2nd bid 3.5* + 4*, added 1 re-bid zone, $71 accepted at 4* Sheraton on the Falls. It seems that fridge, wi-fi, and parking are extra.I used the PRICELINE box on the top right hand corner to book.
