burg0047 Posted June 10, 2011 Author Report Posted June 10, 2011 It turns out this is the former Radisson hotel in St. Cloud. It's a decent, but not spectacular, hotel - a few worn out spots here and there, but obvious signs they have put some effort into giving it new life. The staff we encountered were very friendly. This hotel is in the center of downtown, which is great for anyone needing a stay for business, the hospital, or the Civic Center (which is being expanded). The pool area also had a sauna, which was nice to sit in for a few minutes. On the downside, the hotel is surrounded by bars/night clubs - from past experience, it can get noisy in the streets on certain nights. I won't book it via Hotwire again as, after the Hotwire fee, I saved very little off the rack rate (this was the Master Suite, or the $99.00 room). For St. Cloud I will probably go with a half-star lower option that likely will have breakfast included. I'm not disappointed with the experience... but I probably won't repeat it. Parking was $4.00 - cheap, but just FYI.
thereuare Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Thanks for the follow-up!My litmus test is usually "would i stay again for the same price" so sorry to see this one didn't make the grade... not terrible, but not something you'd like to return to (but perhaps if the hotel continues to make strides, as it does sound like they're trying hard)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
